Hand-knotted silk carpet with medallion

The Hereke cream carpet is a unique silk carpet with a delicate oriental pattern. The name of the carpet is derived from the Hereke family from Turkey, in their family manufactory the best silk carpets are produced. The density of the carpet weaving is about 1 million knots per m2. The carpet is hand-knotted from the highest quality Chinese silk, the production is only a women's affair, as they have very delicate hands necessary for hand-knotting. This unique carpet was hand-knotted in a small manufactory, which is located in the Chinese desert, 600 km from the capital Beijing.
